A man has been tasered after allegedly throwing a spear at police and stabbing an officer in Sydney’s southwest yesterday afternoon.

At around 5.20pm yesterday, police were called to a home on Werombi Road in Grasmere following reports that a person had allegedly breached an apprehended violence order.

Officers arrived at the address and attempted to arrest a 20-year-old man, however, during the arrest, the man allegedly threw a spear at officers before stabbing a 23-year-old officer in the leg.

Police tasered the man before arresting him and taking him to Campbelltown Police Station.

The 23-year-old officer was a probationary constable who paramedics treated before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A crime scene has been established and police have seized a knife, hatchet and spear for forensic examination.

Detectives are investigating the incident.
