Hundreds gathered for another vigil to the Bondi Beach victims overnight, where the parents of 10-year-old Matilda spoke and broke down as they shared memories of their little girl.

Accused gunman Naveed Akram has woken from his coma in hospital and has spent the night speaking with police, with charges expected to follow.

Bondi hero Ahmed El Ahmed is expected to undergo another round of surgery today as multiple patients linger in a critical condition.

And Australian investigators are working with their Philippines counterparts to look into a trip the Akrams took in recent weeks.
