Good morning and welcome to our rolling coverage of the bushfire emergency in Victoria and the tropical cyclone in Queensland.
A trio of emergency-level bushfires are burning in Longwood in central Victoria, Walwa in the state’s north-east and in the Carlisle River in the Otways.Around 300,000 hectares of land have been burnt and 115 structures have been destroyed, including dozens of homes.
Conditions have slightly eased today however Victoria is not yet out of the woods as crews spend another day fighting in difficult conditions.
Meanwhile, further north,Tropical Cyclone Koji is expected to cross the Queensland coast in a matter of hours.Tropical Cyclone Koji has been downgraded to a category one but is forecast to reach the Queensland coast, near Ayr, north of Bowen, in three to five hours.
