The horses, Remington and Kokoda, are recovering with minor leg injuries at stables in Brisbane under treatment by veterinarians.

The 40-year-old rider of the motorcycle was charged with two counts of unlawfully killing or injuring a police horse and one count of driving without due care and attention and driving under the influence.

He is due to appear in court in February.
