A man has been arrested after allegedly mimicking firing on people near the pedestrian bridge the Bondi Beach terror attack was launched from.

Complaints about the actions of two men on the Campbell Parade bridge about 7pm on Saturday sparked a police investigation.

Witnesses said he mimicked firing upon people near the bridge.

He allegedly verbally abused bystanders when they challenged him, “causing them to feel fearful and intimidated”, according to authorities.

Police said they spoke to a 24-year-old man but the “first man had left the scene”.

At 4.40pm today they arrested a 22-year-old at Coogee and took him to Maroubra police station, where inquiries continued.

Fifteen innocent people were killed and dozens more were injured when two gunmen opened fire on attendees at the Chanukah by the Sea celebration from the footbridge on December 14.

Naveed Akram was charged with 59 offences and his father, Sajid, was killed by police.
