A boy has been pulled from a Sydney Harbour beach after being bitten by a shark, police say.

The boy, believed to be about 12, was being treated for “serious” leg injuries.

Emergency services were called to Hermitage Foreshore Walk on Steele Point Road at Vaucluse, near Shark Beach, about 4.20pm.

Intensive care paramedics and the Care Flight helicopter were sent to the scene, a NSW Ambulance spokeswoman told 9news.com.au.

Images show multiple ambulances and police by Rose Bay Wharf.

The beach has been closed and swimmers are advised to avoid the water, police said.
