Man, 27, charged after alleged stabbing at busy Sydney shopping centre

A man has been charged after an alleged daylight stabbing at a busy shopping centre in Sydney’s west.

Police are also on the hunt for another man they believe was involved in the incident.

Emergency services were called to North Terrace in Bankstown after reports of a stabbing about 2.30pm yesterday.

A 55-year-old man was found at the scene with a stab wound. (9News)

A 55-year-old man was found with a stab wound to his torso.

The man was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.

It is believed the two men originally got into a verbal argument, before it turned physical.

The incident occurred during a busy time of the day, where families were doing their Christmas shopping.

A 27-year-old man was arrested a short time later and taken to Bankstown Police Station.

He was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and custody of a knife in a public place.

Police are searching for one more man, but have not released any further identifying details.

The charged man fronted Parramatta Local Court today.
