Man, 34, drowns at Jervis Bay beach

A man has drowned at a beach in Jervis Bay, south of Sydney.

The 34-year-old man was one of multiple people who got into trouble at Greenpatch Beach at 4.45pm yesterday.

ACT and NSW Police, as well as other emergency services were called, pulled him out and did CPR.

However, he could not be revived, and he died at the scene.

Three other people were attended to by paramedics, but none needed more medical attention.

The death comes a day after a man in his 50s died around 10 kilometres north of Jervis Bay.

He was pulled from the water at Lobster Bay Beach in Shoalhaven and could not be revived.

A Sydney mother also drowned at a beach on the NSW Mid North Coast after trying to save her son.

Mel Austin was swimming at Dunbogan Beach on New Year’s Day, when her child was caught in a rip.

She herself then came into difficulty, and could not be saved by her husband, Joel.

Five people have now drowned in beaches in New South Wales over the holiday period.

Searches for two missing people in Sydney have now been called off.

Authorities were searching for a 16-year-old boy who missing after a boat capsized at Palm Beach on New Year’s Eve. A 47-year-old man died in the incident.

On New Year’s Day, a 22-year-old Nepalese man Sushana Khadka was swept away at Coogee Beach, but has not been found.
