A man has been arrested after a 10-year-old girl and a woman were killed in a crash in a remote Aboriginal community in Queensland.

A car carrying five people crashed on Doomadgee Road in Doomadgee, 400 kilometres north of Mount Isa, about 6.30am local time today.

Emergency services arrived to find them all seriously injured.

The driver, a 30-year-old woman from Cloncurry, was given first aid but died at the scene.

Her four passengers were rushed to Doomadgee Hospital, where a 10-year-old girl died.

Of the remaining three, one is fighting for their life while two are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have arrested a 28-year-old man known to the deceased.

9news.com.au understands he was in another vehicle at the time.

A crime scene has been declared as investigations continue.

Queensland Police are supporting the Doomadgee community and local officers.

They have advised the community that there is no ongoing threat.
