A man has been charged after injured police officers had to scramble for safety as their van was allegedly rammed in a Melbourne driveway last month.
Police were called to a unit complex in Mornington on December 12 at 7.40pm after reports a man was loitering suspiciously.

When officers arrived at the scene they found an allegedly stolen black Toyota Land Cruiser utility in the driveway of the property.

It is alleged the utility rammed the parked police vehicle multiple times before the vehicle became wedged in the property’s driveway.

The driver allegedly got out of the car and ran north on Fleet Street.

Two senior constables were left with minor injuries and received medical attention the following day.

The police car and the property were left with significant damage.

The man was arrested after police received a report of a man passed out in a suspicious vehicle in Hallam on January 4.

The man woke up and allegedly attempted to evade police, mounting a curb and crashing into a bin.

The man exited the vehicle from the passenger door and ran before he allegedly attempted to carjack a passing vehicle unsuccessfully and ran into bushland.

Police and the dog squad tracked the man and found him hiding in the bush.

The 35-year-old man has since been charged with an array of offences including robbery, four counts of theft of a motor vehicle, eight counts of burglary, five counts of attempted burglary and attempted theft of a motor vehicle.

He was also charged with theft from a motor vehicle, two counts of assaulting police, two counts of reckless conduct causing serious injury, two counts of reckless conduct endangering life, driving in a dangerous manner, damaging an emergency vehicle, criminal damage, unlicensed driving and failing to appear on bail.

He is due to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court today.
