A man has died after a crash between a truck and car on a busy road in north-west Sydney.
Police say the unidentified passenger was killed before emergency services arrived at the crash scene on Lane Cove Road, North Ryde about 1am.
It’s believed he was ejected from the red car during the crash.
Firefighters worked to free the male driver and a female passenger in the car who were trapped in the vehicle.
Paramedics treated the pair at the scene before they were taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The truck driver – a 61-year-old man – was uninjured. He was taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing.
The area has been declared a crime scene, and police forensic experts have launched investigations, expected to take some time.
Two northbound lanes are now open past the crash site. Diversions have been lifted, however motorists should continue to slow down and exercise caution as emergency services remain on site.
Local buses, including school buses are returning to their normal routes
Anyone with information about the crash – or was in the area at the time with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage – should contact Ryde Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
