Manhunt under way after man killed in shooting in Melbourne’s inner north

Homicide squad detectives are investigating the death of a man in Melbourne’s inner north following a fatal shooting last night.

Police from a nearby station arrived on the scene after hearing gunshots near the intersection of Brunswick and King William Streets in Fitzroy shortly after midnight.

When officers responded, a man was found with life-threatening injuries.

Emergency services worked on the man, however, he died at the scene.

He is yet to be identified.

A car allegedly fled the scene before police arrived, and no arrests have been made.

Police are looking for at least one offender.

Investigations are still under way as police investigate the circumstances of the shooting.
