A man in Melbourne’s south-east fell asleep at the end of a fast-food drive-through before allegedly providing a breath test reading over three times the legal limit.

At around 2.30am last night, officers arrived at the restaurant on Cheltenham Road in Dandenong and found a 25-year-old man asleep at the wheel of a Toyota Camry.

It is alleged that the vehicle’s ignition was on and parked at the end of the drive-through.

Officers removed the keys from the car and made multiple attempts to wake up the alleged driver.

The driver allegedly awoke as police found empty bottles and casks of wine in the backseat of the Toyota.

It is alleged that the driver provided a breath test reading of .158, more than three times the legal prescribed concentration of alcohol.

Police said the driver has never held a licence.

The 25-year-old was arrested in relation to other outstanding matters.

He is expected to also be charged in relation to the drive-through incident with drink-driving and other driving offences.
