Police in New South Wales and Western Australia have seized nearly 268kg of drugs and millions in cash in a bust that saw 18 people charged.
The two authorities had combined to create Strike Force Bloomfield to stop a drug syndicate that police allege was importing drugs via sea, and disguising them in consignments of shoes and plastics.
The drugs and money were then exchanged across borders in the post and via drug mules on planes.
Between May and October this year, 30 search warrants were conducted in both states,
As a result, 150kg of pseudoephedrine, 95kg of methylamphetamine, 21kg of ketamine, 2kg of cocaine, 14 firearms, nearly $2.4 million in cash, and chemical lab equipment were seized.
The drugs seized have an estimated value of $60 million.
NSW Police made arrests all over Sydney, including in the Eastern Suburbs in Randwick, in Blacktown in Western Sydney, and Liverpool in Sydney’s south-west.
The 18 people have been charged with a range of offences and those charged in New South Wales appeared in various courts across Sydney in October.
They were all refused bail.
Seven men were arrested and charged in Western Australia, have all been remanded in custody, and will face court within the next month.
