A police officer has been freed after being trapped in a car that crashed into a home following a two-car collision in Sydney’s west.

At about 3pm, emergency services were called to Bungarribee Road in Blacktown following reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Officers arrived to find a police vehicle had collided with a Mitsubishi SUV while responding to an urgent incident under lights and sirens.

The SUV allegedly turned into the path of the police car travelling at speed.

The police car reportedly tried to avoid the SUV before clipping it and crashing into the home.

The male constable driver suffered minor injuries, while the female constable was trapped in the vehicle and reportedly suffered injuries to her arm.

The female constable was a passenger in the vehicle and was cut free.

The other driver, a 30-year-old man, is assisting police with their inquiries.

The road remains closed, and drivers are being urged to avoid the area.
