Sydney Swans midfielder Taylor Adams was taken to hospital for treatment after being punched in the face and briefly losing consciousness during an incident near the newly-reopened Club Rose Bay.

Police said they were called to Justin Hemmes’ new eastern suburbs venue shortly after 10pm after reports of an assault.

The alleged assault took place across the road from the venue.

“The 32-year-old man was allegedly punched in the face by one of the men causing a small cut to his cheek, as well as being knocked to the ground where he lost consciousness briefly,” police said in a statement.

“The men left prior to the arrival of police. Police have been told the two men are not known to the 32-year-old man.”

The 32-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincents Hospital for further treatment.”

Police said inquiries were continuing.

9News.com.au is not suggesting Adams was the aggressor. The alleged attacker was not known to Adams.

Sydney Swans said in a statement they were working with Adams and the police to identify the alleged attacker.

“Sydney Swans player Taylor Adams was the victim of an incident across the road from an Eastern Suburbs establishment last night,” the club said.

“Adams was taken to hospital after the incident for further assessment. He was released from hospital at 7am Sunday morning and will be monitored on a daily basis.

“The Sydney Swans does not tolerate violence in any form and is working with Adams and NSW police to identify the offender.”

Adams joined the Swans in 2024 after nearly 10 years at Collingwood.
