A 16-year-old is fighting for life and a 20-year-old has been seriously injured after a stabbing at an Adelaide shopping centre during Black Friday sales.

A fight broke out between four males at Elizabeth City Centre in Adelaide’s north just after 2pm (ACDT), leading to the centre’s alarm being sounded and the area being locked down.

A 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the leg and has been taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A 20-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen and is in a stable condition, according to police.

Police arrested a male at the scene and the knife used in the attacks was recovered.

SA Police Superintendent Amit Sareen said the shopping centre was particularly busy at the time due to the Black Friday sales.

”There were quite a few people around,” he said.

He has reassured the community the incident “was not a random attack”.

“The group was known to each other,” he said.

Part of the shopping centre is still open.
