Two arrested following police pursuit after fatal shooting in Sydney’s west

A major police operation is under way after a man was shot dead on a street in Sydney’s west.

Police were called to an incident on Carinya Street at Blacktown to find a man with gunshot wounds to his neck, chest and leg.

He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

At the same time, police tried to stop a Mazda utility that was spotted leaving the scene.

A police chase was initiated after the driver did not stop.

The pursuit ended after the car crashed on Kildare Road.

Two people were then arrested after attempting to flee on foot following the pursuit.

They have both been taken to Blacktown Police Station as investigations continue.

There is a large number of emergency services present in the area, with police establishing a perimeter.

There is no threat to the general public but people are still being urged to avoid the area.
