Emergency services were called to John Locke Place in Gleniffer, located about nine kilometres north of Bellingen, at 6.45pm yesterday following reports of multiple people struggling in a river.

Three people – a woman and two men aged in their 30s – were found at the scene in the water, understood to be the Never Never River.

The two men were pulled from the river, however they were unable to be revived.

The woman was also pulled from the river and was treated at the scene before being taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus in a serious condition.

A crime scene has been established.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
