Two inmates have been injured in a stabbing at a maximum security prison in Victoria
Two men were stabbed at Western Plains Correctional Centre in Lara, near Geelong about 10am today.
A 25-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his chest and torso.
A 32-year-old man was left with a minor injury to his face.
Both men were rushed to hospital by ambulance.
Police are investigating.
Western Plains Correctional Centre is Victoria’s newest jail, after opening in June this year.
The prison was expected to house more 900 inmates, many of whom are being transferred from the closing Port Phillip Prison, by the end of the year.
