Residents of a South Australian community have been forced to lock themselves inside their homes after a brawl broke out on their street.
The clash between two groups erupted on Railway Terrace in Taperoo, 18 kilometres north-west of the Adelaide CBD, at 8.15pm yesterday.

Witness Connor Milne told 9News he was at home when the fight broke out.

“I was just relaxing, I was just trying to watch a movie and have a few glasses of wine, then I hear some yelling and stuff,” Milne said.

“They start running down here with rocks and bats and all that.”

Resident Dan Wake said he heard shouting and screaming in the street.

“Take it somewhere else, this is a nice quiet neighbourhood,” Wake said.

Neighbours who watched were confused by the tactics used.

“They weren’t actually fighting,” Milne said.

“They were shadow boxing and moving towards each other.”

Residents said the brawl escalated and some even threw rocks.

Paula Steele was caught in the firing line while standing in her front yard.

“Rocks started flying and it flew, one flew past me and one hit me in the shoulder and bounced off,” Steele said.

Two people were arrested, including a Semaphore Park man and a Taperoo man.

They will face court in six weeks time.
